“The values that we incorporate into our daily lives become
guides to the kind of human beings we decide to become.”
—Nancy Salmeron
A few weeks ago, I did a presentation for a group of women on values. I love presenting about values because values are ideals that guide our behavior with others and with ourselves. Identifying our values will help us distinguish what is right or wrong for us and will guide us on how to conduct our lives in a meaningful way. The women were very interested to realize that the values, which they hold dear to their hearts, are also the values that trickle down to their families, communities, and the world. I incorporate activities into my presentations. One of the activities that I implemented with this group of women was to have them develop a values’ mission statement for their group. Then as homework, they developed a values’ mission statement for their family.
Many of the groups selected respect, responsibility, patience, and love as their values. The values that we incorporate into our daily lives become guides to the kind of human beings we decide to become. The values we treasure in our lives remind us of our essence and of what is important to us. As you reflect on your values and your essence, remember that the way you approach life reflects what your soul values. Today, let’s talk about values that I believe are essential to prosperity and inner peace.
Love.
As I reflected on what values I hold dear to my heart, I reaffirmed that love is one value that is very important to me. Love is the essence of my family. I believe that if love is at the forefront of any relationship, everything else will fall into place. When I love, I am able to incorporate respect and responsibility in how I show up for others. As I love my children and my husband, I develop understanding and patience. As I love friends and family, I incorporate acceptance and understanding of others. As I see strangers with love, I tap into empathy and compassion.
Seeking inner strength.
To know life is to accept the challenges it brings with open arms. Life is difficult, and it will sometimes bring you to your knees to remind you of the strength you possess within yourself. The value of inner strength is the belief that you can overcome all obstacles that come your way. Never fear the difficult and sad moments that life brings. Those moments are meant to help you grow, not destroy you. Trust yourself and embrace your inner strength.
Honoring your word.
When you honor what you say, you become unstoppable. This value is one that is needed if you are seeking success in relationships, work, business, or your career. As you become impeccable with your word, you will discover that everything you set out to do becomes a reality. When you honor your word, you take pride in everything you say, and others will appreciate and love you for that.
Our values define what we believe is important for our lives. We all have different values. One universal value that unites us is love. Love encompasses empathy, respect, responsibility, friendship, and caring. We pass our values on to our families and they trickle down to our communities, cities, and the world. Take a moment to reflect on what values matter most to you and why. All the decisions we have made reflect what we hold dear to our hearts—our values. Reflect and see if you are incorporating your values into your daily actions. These principles will help you make life decisions that will positively impact your life. Your values can guide you to your purpose for living. Until next time, Believe. Change. Become.
