Obstacles are the land mines of life, if you chose to see them that way!

Behind you are the challenges you’ve met.
Before you lies new possibilities.
Today you choose the direction of your life. –Unknown

Happy Monday friends! How are you dealing with the land mines of your life? How have those setbacks made you grow? In today’s blog I will discuss how the most challenging times can bring the most empowering lessons, if you are ready to learn the lesson of course. Also, we will go into what these life’s lessons are trying to tell you and how beauty can be found in obstacles if you are ready to see them!

I was listening to a country song by Garth Brooks, “Unanswered Prayers.” Maybe you heard it. This song talks about those moments in our life when we prayed for something that we wanted but the prayer was never answered. Years later you realize why that pain and sorrow was essential for growth. You may also discover that what you were praying for did not equate to what you actually got at the end. Obstacles are that, unanswered prayers that are painful, but essential for life. Obstacles shift your life’s direction to a better path. Don’t curse obstacles embrace them! See obstacles as lessons learned, but also a better ending to your story.

What are obstacles trying to teach us?

Obstacles are trying to show us who we truly are. There is a reason why you are going through that pain and suffering, it’s because we have the strength to overcome it! Never doubt that you are resilient and that you can take it. You were chosen for this painful task because you have what it takes to conquer it! Those times of extreme sadness, times of heartbreak and loneliness force us to get to the core of who we really are. Once you can see your true core, what you are made off you see that you can overcome anything!

Where can an obstacle take us?

An obstacle can take us to a better path. In every situation where you feel that your path is blocked there is a better road to take. These land mines literally spell out what we must do. They reveal parts of our spirit that needs to be fined tuned. They show us things that are blocking our personal growth. Embrace obstacles because they now what path you should take. Trust when I tell you that as you look back to your life, you will realize that it was necessary for you to go through that road block because it gave you a better destination. When I look back at some of my land mines, it is very clear to me why I had to go through the pain and disappointment. The pain and disappointment that I faced in Public Education, changed my life’s focus into what I am doing today. I thought I was going to continue with my career as an educator but the obstacles I faced forced me to change my classroom.

Can obstacles make us stronger?

There is no one of us that is free from suffering, pain or obstacles in our lives. With that said know that you are getting stronger every time you encounter obstacles. Yes, obstacles make us stronger! Obstacles show us what we are made of. Obstacles push us to prevail. Obstacles remind us what we are made of. Think back at a time that you were going through an obstacle. Do you recall the pain and suffering? Now think about what you felt when you were out of it. Does that not make you proud? For me obstacles have demonstrated the power of my spirit. I am an eternal optimist by nature, so this is a benefit to the way I view pain and suffering in my life. I view it as, “a moment in time, that will pass and by the end I will be stronger because of it.” I hope you can do the same.

The beauty of obstacles in your life is in the eye of the beholder. I truly believe that if you approach obstacles or land mines in your life as opportunities for growth they will be that. But if you surrender to the challenge, it will leave you defeated and fearing life. Today, I hope I reminded you that deep within your core you have the strength to conquer the land mines of your life. I want to also, tell you that you were given these obstacles because you are strong enough to take them. Keep your head up and know that the challenges you overcome will lift you up, make you STRONG, and give you direction to your true path! I will close with this quote,
“If you can find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn’t lead anywhere.”- Frank A. Clark

Until next Monday, Believe. Change. Become.
