“Change is INEVITABLE. Progress is OPTINAL.”
Tony Robins
Is there something in your life that is not working? Is it your job? A relationship you are in? Something in yourself? If you are asking yourself these questions you may be seeking change. In today’s blog I will share how you can change your life if you really want to. How you can improve it by incorporating daily habits to master change, and finally how change can lead to progress if progress is your ultimate goal!
Let’s start with your WHY? Why do you want to make this change? If you are looking to lose weight or end a relationship. Why is this change necessary? One of my life changes this year was to follow my passion of becoming a Life Coach/ Inspirational Speaker. This was a major change, I started my own business from the bottom. Scary right? Yet, my why, made it clear that this change was a necessary to the fulfillment of my spirit. I enjoyed and treasured dearly my years in public education, but felt that I had to change my classroom. I was not happy with the focus of public education, it did not fulfill my mission. My husband and children saw my unhappiness going to work. So my why became about being happy so that I could be a better parent and wife. My why has pushed me through my doubts and fears.
Next step in getting the life you want is to change your belief system. That belief that anything is possible. Our beliefs control everything we do. Weather you believe you can or can’t you are correct. It’s up to you to decide what is going to be. In my case I believe that this career change has put me on my purpose. I believe that this is what I was born to do. I believe that I can be successful at it. What do you believe? Do you believe that you can lose the weight or get out of stagnant relationship in your work or with a partner? Do you believe that you were destined for something better?
Now that you believe it, you can see it! You must cultivate the overwhelming motivation to succeed. Know that it will take work, but know that it will happen. One trick to not going back is to focus on the pain you will feel with what you know you don’t want for your life. You must motivate yourself to the belief that you are on the right track and that there is no going back. Visualize yourself where you want to be. It’s all there it’s just a matter of time.
If you change your mental patterns you can change your life. Let go of those mental patterns that tell you that you can’t. Start with small habits that will take you to your goal. It’s those little changes that we do that will result in the grand change. Remember its mini steps, taking it slow enjoying the journey more than the destination that will contribute to those positive life changes.
I was trying to avoid the question of time and change, because of the conflicting research information on this topic. I believe that to change any bad habit you have to give it time. The time devoted to any major change you are seeking should be about six weeks to develop into a positive daily habit. Yet, I believe it is dependent on the individual. Work for that goal every day and stick with it!
In conclusion, change is inevitable, it’s part of life. Life is always pushing us to change for the growth of our spirit. Today, I hope I have gave you the courage to take that first step into change. I personally know how difficult and challenging this may be, but I also know it is necessary for the ultimate life you were born to live! Until next time, Believe. Change. Become.
