Do not compare yourself to others. You are one-of-a-kind, Beautiful, and your journey will never mirror someone else’s journey.

—Nancy Salmeron

Have you ever compared yourself to others? Have you ever wondered if where you were at in your life, business, or relationships was where you needed to be? I believe that if you pursue your dreams, passion, or purpose, that there are days when you wonder if what you are doing is moving you in the right direction. A few weeks ago, I woke up with the feeling that I should be further along in my business. I felt I was being left behind in comparison with other coaches I know. I questioned if there were changes I needed to implement to reach my goals faster. I questioned my purpose. I questioned if I would indeed make it to the peak of my mountain.  I have so many dreams and life goals that I want to complete, yet we all know that the world as we knew it has changed. After evaluating my fears and doubts, I realized how normal and understandable it was for me to feel this way.

A world pandemic and life’s challenges can make you wonder about the future. A world pandemic and the loss and suffering it brings can shift, alter, and even stop you in your tracks. Self-evaluation and being forgiving of yourself for not being where you thought you would be in business and in life can make you realize that you are where you need to be. In my case, silencing the mind and seeking answers to my questions made me realize that I also needed to implement contentment, being grateful and at peace with where I stand in the present. This also means that I understand that life is seasonal, things change, things come to end. Today, I want to talk about how your journey is unique and different from others. I also want to assure you that everything is perfect, and you are where you need to be. Here are some tips that will push you on your journey when you wonder if you are still on the right path.

Observe your fearful thoughts, acknowledge them, and send them off.

When I self-reflect, I do not ignore what my thoughts are telling me. I observe them, acknowledge them, and then let them go. Feel the emotion, but do not let it consume you. Give yourself time, stay with your feelings if you need to, and then let them go. It is okay to watch and remind yourself that you are human and that you have doubts and fears. The key here is to let them go.

Regardless of your fears and doubts, act.

There have been days when I have not wanted to work toward my daily goals, to accomplish my dreams. Feel the feeling, listen to your body, and commit yourself to showing up with at least a twenty-fifty percent commitment. Yes, I know you cannot give one-hundred percent some days, but at least show up and put something in. Do one small thing. If you do this, the guilt will be less, and you will be a bit closer to realizing your goals and dreams.

Stop comparing yourself to others.

You are unique. Your life experiences will be different than those of others around you. So, stop comparing yourself to others. They are where they need to be in their journeys and so are you. Remember that someone else’s success is not your failure. Again, you are a different human being, who needs to experience life in your own way. Focus and savor the path that you are on.

Count your blessings and focus less on your troubles.

Show how grateful you are by being open to the idea that where you are is a good place to be. Gratitude is the key to opening other doors that are intended for you to open. Even when things are dark and uncertain, recognize what beautiful things linger in your life — perhaps it’s your family, a dear friend, good health, or a sense of peace and calm. Even when you cannot find anything to be joyous about, there is always something to be grateful about that you will find when you seek it.

You are not defined by where you are in your life. It is up to you to be mindful of what your thoughts are telling you and which thoughts to believe. Observe any fearful thoughts and let them go. Act even when you feel you cannot. Sometimes showing up is all you need to do. Remind yourself tomorrow is another day. Do not compare yourself to others. You are one-of-a-kind, Beautiful, and your journey will never mirror someone else’s journey. Wake up with a sense that all is well and that you are blessed because you exist. Implement gratitude in your everyday life, so you can attract more blessings. Until next time, beautiful soul, Believe. Change. Become.
